Trump threatens to fire federal employees over remote work

US President Donald Trump opposed the idea of federal employees working from home, as his administration pushes for a return to office work. He warned that those who fail to comply could face termination, according to CNN.
Speaking to supporters at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) near Washington, Trump suggested that if he worked remotely, his golf game would significantly improve.
"If they don’t report for work, we’re firing them. In other words, you have to go to office," Trump said.
CNN notes that on the past Saturday, Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, Trump spent the weekend in Florida and played golf. The president mused that if he worked remotely, he would speak on the phone, claiming he was really working, while also asking, "Where are my clubs?"
Trump recently urged billionaire Elon Musk to be more aggressive in reducing the federal government. This call was made despite outrage in the US over layoffs and significant spending cuts.
The Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), led by Musk - a body overseeing all federal government agencies - has laid off tens of thousands of government employees.
