Trump takes credit for ceasefire between Thailand and Cambodia

US President Donald Trump stated that Thailand and Cambodia reached a ceasefire thanks to his intervention, according to the US leader on Truth Social.
According to Trump, he held talks with Thailand’s acting Prime Minister Phumtham Wechayachai and Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet.
"I am pleased to announce that, after the involvement of President Donald J. Trump, both Countries have reached a ceasefire and peace. Congratulations to all! By ending this War, we have saved thousands of lives. I have instructed my Trade Team to restart negotiations on Trade," he wrote.
Trump boasted that he has supposedly ended numerous wars "in just six months."
"I am proud to be the President of peace," he added.
Ceasefire between Thailand and Cambodia
The conflict between Thailand and Cambodia escalated on July 24, 2025, following clashes over a disputed territory, where both sides resorted to the use of artillery, missiles, and airstrikes.
On July 28, an unconditional and immediate ceasefire between Thailand and Cambodia was reached in Kuala Lumpur under the auspices of Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, US President Donald Trump, and representatives from China.
The ceasefire took effect at midnight and includes the restoration of high-level communication, the establishment of monitoring mechanisms, and a follow-up meeting of military commanders.
