US President Donald Trump says during a briefing with journalists that Ukrainians are forced to live without heating in 20-degree frost, and they do amazing things to live in such conditions.
According to him, Ukrainians are currently facing extreme hardship: they are forced to survive without heating in temperatures as low as minus 20 degrees Celsius. He emphasizes that this is a very severe cold, in some places even harsher than in Canada, and at the same time, people are left without heat.
"I asked him, I mean, how do they do that? And he (Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, ed.) gave me an answer. It's pretty amazing what they do to live. It's no way to live," Trump says.
The US President also said that he had had many positive meetings with Volodymyr Zelenskyy recently, but they had not yielded any concrete results. He also said that both the Ukrainian and Russian sides were allegedly interested in reaching agreements, but avoided answering questions about possible concessions on the Russian part.
Russian strikes led to power and heating outages
In recent weeks, Russian troops have launched a series of massive strikes on various regions of Ukraine, leading to emergency power and heating outages in several regions of Ukraine.
As of the morning of January 23, 1,940 high-rise buildings in Kyiv remain without heat, which is being reconnected for the second time after Russian attacks on January 9 and 20. Most of the buildings without heat are located on the left bank of Kyiv, in the Pecherskyi district, and some are in the Holosiivskyi and Solomianskyi districts.
At the same time, Ukrainian Energy Minister Denys Shmyhal previously stated that Kyiv would soon switch from emergency power outage schedules to strict but predictable ones.
