US President Donald Trump spoke about his potential successor, stating that he would be very important, according to Fortune.

During a conversation with a journalist, Trump was asked who, in his opinion, would be best suited to carry on his legacy of deal-making. Among the possible candidates mentioned were his son Donald Trump Jr., US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and Vice President JD Vance.

As the agency notes, at the moment this question was asked, Vance quietly walked to the back of the room and heard the President’s response.

Commenting on a potential successor, Trump emphasizes the importance of making the right choice.

"Whoever gets this [job] is going to be very important," the President says.

At the same time, he warns that a mistake in choosing the future leader could have serious consequences.

"And if you get the wrong person: disaster," Trump adds.

Earlier, Donald Trump did not rule out that current Vice President JD Vance could become his successor as US president.

According to the US leader, after the end of his current term, he would like to hand over power to a strong Republican.

And recently, White House representative Sebastian Gorka reported that Trump had left instructions for Vice President JD Vance in case something happened to him and Vance became his successor.

At the same time, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio also did not rule out that JD Vance could become the Republican Party’s candidate in the 2028 presidential election.
