US President Donald Trump has reportedly left instructions for Vice President JD Vance in case something happens to him and Vance becomes his successor, according to White House official Sebastian Gorka during the Pod Force One podcast.
Gorka reports that a letter addressed to Vance in the event of unforeseen circumstances is kept inside the drawer of the Resolute Desk in the Oval Office.
"There is a letter in the drawer in the Resolute Desk that is addressed to the vice president should something happen to him," the White House official said.
Gorka also stated that he is not afraid of a possible assassination attempt against Trump by foreign adversaries. At the same time, he stressed that the United States has succession protocols in place that would be activated if the president were under threat.
"We have protocols, trust me. Not ones I can discuss, but we have protocols," the official emphasized.
Earlier, Vice President JD Vance said he would be prepared to assume the duties of head of state only if something happened to President Trump.
At the time, Vance stressed that he was fully prepared to perform presidential duties if necessary.
Trump has also publicly described Vance as the most likely Republican candidate in the 2028 presidential election.
