Media reports today claimed that Trump's special representative, Steve Witkoff, waited at least eight hours for a meeting with Russian president Vladimir Putin. However, the US president denied the claim, calling the reports fake, according to Trump's post on his social network, Truth Social.

"The Fake News, as usual, is at it again! Why can’t they be honest, just for once? Last night I read that President Vladimir Putin of Russia kept my Highly Respected Ambassador and Special Envoy, Steve Witkoff, waiting for over nine hours when, in fact, there was no wait whatsoever," Trump stated.

He claimed that Witkoff had meetings with other Russian representatives, which apparently took some time but were very productive. Trump reiterated that there was no waiting involved.

"From there, things went quickly and efficiently, and all signs seem to be, hopefully, very good. In conclusion, there was no nine hour wait, or any wait at all," the US president emphasized once again.

According to him, the only reason the media "made up that story" was an attempt to demean him.

"Decause they are sick degenerates, that have to start reporting the News correctly. This is why they have lost their ratings, their audience, and respect. Thank you for your attention to this matter and, GOD BLESS AMERICA," Trump concluded.

Sky News reported that during his visit to Moscow, Witkoff waited at least eight hours for Putin. The delay was allegedly due to Putin's meeting with Belarusian self-proclaimed president Alexander Lukashenko at the time.
