US President Donald Trump is 100% sure that the US will take control of Greenland, according to his interview with NBC News.

Trump said that he “absolutely had real conversations about annexing Greenland.”

“We'll get Greenland. Yeah, 100%,” the US president said, commenting on the possibility of annexing the island.

According to him, there is a “good possibility” that the United States will do it without military force, but he added that he doesn't ”take anything off the table.”

Asked what kind of signal the annexation of Greenland would send to Russia and the rest of the world, Trump said, “I don’t really think about that.”

“I don’t really care. Greenland’s a very separate subject, very different. It’s international peace. It’s international security and strength,” he said.

Trump wants to annex Greenland

After winning the election, Donald Trump resumed talk of buying Greenland. He explains that the US control over the island is necessary for security.

Greenland, which is a semi-autonomous territory of Denmark, has been opposed to joining the United States. Protests against Trump's policy were held on the island. Denmark also rejects the possibility of buying the island.

Recently, US Vice President JD Vance and his wife visited Greenland. During the visit, he said that the United States would not increase the number of troops in Greenland, but was committed to its security.

Denmark advised Vance to change the tone of his statements on Greenland and called for joint work on security in the Arctic. The Danish Foreign Minister reminded that Greenland is also part of NATO.
