US officials have developed options for President Donald Trump to increase pressure on Russia. This move is possible due to President Vladimir Putin’s unwillingness to end the war against Ukraine, Bloomberg informs.

According to sources from Bloomberg, the US has already prepared a series of options to increase pressure on Russia.

However, the outlet's sources clarified that Trump has not yet made a decision, as the US is still pursuing diplomatic efforts to achieve peace between Ukraine and Russia. They also declined to provide details about potential measures. The final decision rests with Trump.

Bloomberg reminds that Ukraine and its allies insist on intensifying pressure on Moscow, including through additional restrictions on energy exports and oil revenues, to force Russia to agree to an unconditional ceasefire for at least 30 days.

Putin rejects the ceasefire

Back in March, the US proposed a ceasefire of at least 30 days between Ukraine and Russia, with the possibility of extension. The Ukrainian authorities agreed to this initiative.

In turn, Russian President Vladimir Putin began to set conditions. Specifically, he demanded that Western countries halt their assistance to Ukraine during the ceasefire.

Recently, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov claimed that Ukraine allegedly wants to use the 30-day ceasefire to strengthen its Armed Forces.
