Trump's special envoy wants to find solution to end Russia's war against Ukraine within 100 days
Keith Kellogg, who will become the US special envoy for Ukraine, aims to find a solution to end the war. His goal is to achieve this within 100 days, Fox News reports.
Kellogg supported the criticism of elected US President Donald Trump against US President Joe Biden. According to the future special representative, Biden's main mistake is that he has never spoken with Russian President Vladimir Putin during the more than two years of full-scale war.
"That is one thing that the president does - he talks to adversaries and allies a lot. And he knows it's a tough one, but he knows that you need to talk to people, and that's what he is going to do," Kellogg emphasized.
He clarified that US officials will create the "necessary conditions" for Trump to speak both with Putin and with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
"I think they will come to a solvable solution in the near term. When I say near term, I would like to set a goal on a personal level, on a professional level, I would say 100 days and move back. If there is a way to do this in the near term, to make sure the solution is solid and sustainable and this war ends, so we stop the carnage," said the future special representative.
He explained that ending Russia's war against Ukraine is important for US national security and is part of American interests.
Trump's plans for negotiations with Putin
Earlier, elected US President Donald Trump stated that he cannot yet say when he plans to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin. However, according to him, the meeting will take place after January 20 – the day of the inauguration.
At the same time, he claimed that the war continues allegedly because US President Joe Biden allowed Ukraine to join NATO.
