US President Donald Trump is reviewing support for European efforts related to Ukraine, states US Ambassador to NATO Matthew Whitaker during an appearance on NewsMax.

"It's very clear that President Trump is reevaluating everything, whether that's our involvement at NATO or our support for European efforts in Ukraine, or anything else the United States is doing," he said.

According to Whitaker, Trump was elected president to be guided in all situations by the principle of "America first."

"We're going to move out on his intent when he makes a decision. Right now, everything's on the table," the diplomat added.

PURL program

After Donald Trump became the US president for the second time, the United States gradually stopped providing direct military aid to Ukraine.

Instead, together with NATO, the PURL program was created. Its goal is to rapidly provide Ukraine with critically important US-made weapons that have no European equivalents.

The mechanism involves forming a prioritized list of needs (including air defense systems and artillery ammunition) agreed upon with Ukraine’s partners.

Procurement is funded by NATO countries (except the US) through contributions to a joint fund, after which the United States ensures the direct delivery of equipment and ammunition to the front.
