Trump promised to acknowledge election results if he loses, but there is caveat
Republican US presidential candidate Donald Trump has stated he will accept the results of the election, even in the event of a loss, but only if he considers them "fair," according to Trump’s statements highlighted by CNN, Reuters, and AFP.
"If I lose an election, if it's a fair election ... I'd be the first one to acknowledge it. For now, I believe they have been fair," Trump declared after casting his vote in the presidential election.
The presidential candidate also noted that he doesn’t see the need to explicitly ask his supporters to refrain from violence in the event of his defeat.
"Of course they’ll be no violence. My supporters are not violent people. I don’t have to tell them. And I certainly don’t want any violence, but I certainly don’t have to tell them. These are great people. These are people that believe in no violence," he said.
According to Trump, he feels "very confident" and believes this campaign has been the "best" of his career.
US presidential election
Today, November 5, the US presidential election is underway, with Donald Trump and Kamala Harris as the main contenders.
Trump has already cast his vote in Florida and expressed confidence in his victory.
However, as Vira Dumanska, coordinator of the Chesno movement and an observer at one of the US polling stations, told RBC Ukraine’s YouTube channel, official election results won’t be available immediately.
She explained that the winner can only be determined once results are in from the swing states.
