US President Donald Trump has stated that Washington is considering reducing the American military contingent in Germany. A decision is planned for the near future, according to Trump's statement.
What is known
Trump wrote that the US is studying and reviewing a possible troop reduction in Germany. He provided no details regarding the scale of the possible reduction or the timeline.
This is not the first signal from the Trump administration regarding a review of the American military presence in Europe. Washington has repeatedly accused its NATO allies of insufficient defense spending.
Trump's phone call with Putin was preceded by a meeting between the US president and King Charles III of the UK. According to lip-reading expert Nicola Hickling, in the first minutes of the conversation, Trump told the monarch that Vladimir Putin wants war.
Additionally, the US leader allegedly said that the Russian dictator plans to destroy the population, without specifying which population he was referring to.
