Trump on Ukraine talks: My relationship with Putin didn't mean anything

US President Donald Trump's good relationship with Russian leader Vladimir Putin did not lead to the desired outcome in resolving Russia’s war against Ukraine, said Trump during a meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron.
He said that Macron helped him with several of the seven wars that the US managed to resolve.
"I thought that was going to be the easiest one because of my relationship with Putin. But unfortunately, that relationship didn't mean anything," Trump said.
Trump and Putin’s relationship
US President Donald Trump has repeatedly said he has good relations with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Since the start of his second presidential term, Trump has held several phone conversations with Putin.
In August, the American leader also met with the Kremlin chief in Alaska. Trump had hoped to convince Putin to meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, but Putin’s stance did not change.
Following this meeting with the US at the leaders’ level, Russia even intensified its massive strikes on peaceful cities in Ukraine.
