Trump on tariff hikes: It may hurt America, but it’s worth it

US President Donald Trump believes that the decision to impose tariffs on goods from Canada, Mexico, and China is justified, even if it may be painful for the US economy. He argues that these three countries, along with others, are robbing America, according to Trump's post on his social media platform, Truth Social.
"Countries like Canada, Mexico, China, and too many others to name, continue the decades long ripoff of America, both with regard to trade, crime, and poisonous drugs that are allowed to so freely flow into America," Trump wrote.
He declared that those days are over and that America will no longer be a foolish country. Trump urged these nations to manufacture their products within the US, stating that if they do so, there will be no tariff increases. He maintains that the US should not be losing trillions of dollars subsidizing other countries.
"This will be the golden age of America! Will there be some pain? Yes, maybe (and maybe not!). But we will make America great again, and it will all be worth the price that must be paid.," Trump concluded.
In response to Trump's initiative to impose 25% tariffs on Canada, Canadian Finance Minister Dominic LeBlanc released a list of American goods subject to counter-tariffs.
We also reported that China intends to challenge the tariffs imposed by the US on Chinese products, urging Washington to correct what it called wrongful actions.
