Trump now sees Putin's peace promises on Ukraine were false – Macron

French President Emmanuel Macron believes that his American counterpart, Donald Trump, has realized that Russian President Vladimir Putin deceived him, BFMTV reports.
During his tour of Southeast Asia, Macron called for the "preservation of a rules-based order" in the global context of "serious imbalances." According to him, the war in Ukraine is "destabilizing Asia" — not just Europe.
The French president also stated that, in his view, Trump has "realized" that Putin "deceived him."
"I believe President Trump realized that when President Putin spoke to him about being ready for peace — he was lying," Macron emphasized, calling for "the longest possible ceasefire."
He stressed, "What is happening in Ukraine is unacceptable and extremely serious."
"You cannot claim to be ready for negotiations while simultaneously bombing. Such double rhetoric reveals the insincerity of any statements about dialogue," Macron added.
Background
In recent nights, the Russian Federation has carried out large-scale attacks on Ukrainian territory using various types of weaponry. US President Donald Trump initially refrained from commenting on Russia's actions.
However, Trump later declared that Putin had gone insane.
"Something has happened to him (Putin). He has gone absolutely CRAZY!" Trump said on Truth Social, referring to Russia's attack the previous night.
Commenting on the latest mass strikes against Ukraine, Trump also stated that Washington is definitely considering imposing sanctions on Russia.
