US President Donald Trump believes the American border is among the strongest in the world, yet still inferior to North Korea's fortifications, Trump said during his speech.
According to the US president, North Korea's border is "probably a stronger" one and has seven rows of high-voltage wire.
He claims that each of these barriers is charged with about 1 million volts, and that crossing even one layer can be deadly.
"We have one of the strongest borders anywhere in the world. I would say there's one country that has probably a stronger border. North Korea has seven walls of wire, and each of them has a million volts of electricity going through it. So, if you get over one, you're dead for the next one. If you get over one, you're in very bad shape. If you get over two, you've set a record," Trump said.
US–North Korea relations
Relations between the United States and North Korea have always been tense due to North Korea's nuclear program, the sanctions imposed on it, and significant political differences.
Washington has repeatedly urged Pyongyang to halt nuclear tests, but negotiations between the sides have periodically collapsed and entered phases of stagnation.
Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un first met in June 2018 in Singapore.
The second summit took place in February 2019 in Hanoi, Vietnam, but the talks were cut short because the sides failed to reach an agreement on North Korea's denuclearization.
In June 2019, Trump became the first US president to step onto North Korean territory after receiving an invitation from Kim Jong Un. The American leader also invited the North Korean leader to visit Washington.
After the start of his second presidential term, Trump announced his intention to resume dialogue with Kim Jong Un and return to efforts to normalize relations.
