US President Donald Trump is in "exceptional health," according to results from his routine medical checkup, Associated Press and NBC News report.

Earlier on Friday, Trump spent about three hours at a hospital in Bethesda, Maryland, where his doctor conducted a "scheduled follow-up evaluation" that was a "part of his ongoing health maintenance plan."

The visit included laboratory tests and preventive health assessments at the Walter Reed Army Medical Center. The president also received his annual flu shot and a COVID-19 booster.

"President Donald J. Trump remains in exceptional health, exhibiting strong cardiovascular, pulmonary, neurological, and physical performance," Barbabella wrote in a one-page memo

He added that the checkup helped prepare Trump for upcoming overseas trips. It included advanced imaging, lab tests, and preventive medical evaluations. Trump is scheduled to travel to the Middle East this weekend and plans to visit Asia later in October.

Barbabella also noted that, in his assessment, Trump’s "cardiac age" was "approximately 14 years younger than his chronological age."

Doctors used an electrocardiogram, a test that measures the heart’s electrical activity, to evaluate Trump's cardiac age. This assessment can be combined with artificial intelligence or other analytical methods to provide more detailed insight into an individual’s cardiovascular risk.

Trump is currently 79 years old and was the oldest US president at the time of his inauguration.

Initially, the White House described Trump's visit as a "routine yearly checkup," although he had already undergone a yearly checkup in April. After the visit, the president referred to it as a "semiannual physical."

Trump’s April medical examination found him "fully capable" of performing his duties as commander-in-chief.

A three-page report on that checkup noted that since his June 2020 exam, he had lost 20 pounds and maintained an "active lifestyle," which continues to contribute significantly to his overall well-being.
