US President Donald Trump did not rule out the possibility of imposing additional sanctions on Russia, according to a White House broadcast.

During a press interaction with Finnish President Sauli Niinistö, Trump was asked whether he plans to implement further sanctions against Russia.

In response, he briefly said: "Maybe."

What else Trump said

During the same discussion, Trump stated that Ukraine and Russia will soon sit at the negotiating table and that there are many reasons for this.

Additionally, when asked whether he plans to increase pressure to achieve a peace agreement for Ukraine, Trump stated that he is already doing so, along with NATO.

"We are stepping up the pressure. We are all stepping it up. NATO has been great... We are selling a lot of weapons to NATO, and that's going, I guess, to Ukraine for the most part. That's up to them. But they are buying weapons from the US. We make the greatest weapons in the world," the US president said.

Other statements by Trump and preparations to pressure Russia

In September, we reported that Trump announced his readiness to move to a second stage of imposing sanctions on Russia. However, so far, no such steps have been taken.

At the same time, it is worth noting that Trump said he could impose sanctions if NATO countries and Europe in general stop buying Russian oil.

Additionally, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy recently announced that a Ukrainian delegation will travel to the US at the beginning of next week. Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko will lead the delegation, and one of the main topics will be discussions on sanctions policy against Russia.
