US voters are concerned about corruption in the administration of President Donald Trump. Concerns about the government's actions are intensifying against the backdrop of rising prices and an unpopular war with Iran, according to the Financial Times.

According to a poll by FT and Focaldata, approximately 69% of registered voters and nearly 50% of those who voted for Trump in 2024 expressed concern about ethical violations in the White House.

Nearly half of the respondents consider corruption a greater problem than under previous presidents.

Public outrage is growing due to economic hardships.

The main driver of inflation is the war in Iran, which has caused diesel fuel prices to rise by 70% compared to last year (to $6.32 per gallon).

Furthermore, 56% of respondents reported a deterioration in their financial situation since the beginning of the year, and more than a quarter have been forced to cut spending on food and medicine.

Against this backdrop, the Trump family has earned at least $1 billion from cryptocurrency projects, while donors linked to them are receiving government contracts.

Jeremy Ney, a professor at Columbia Business School, noted that when a family read an article about presidential profits from cryptocurrencies while deciding whether to postpone an expensive doctor's visit, they saw that the system worked for someone, just not for them.

The White House rejects the accusations and insists that it acts exclusively in the interests of citizens.

White House spokesperson Davis Ingle said that there had been no conflict of interest and that Trump was acting solely in the best interests of the American public, adding that this was precisely why he had been re-elected to the position by an overwhelming majority.

He added that the administration has launched a large-scale fight against fraud in federal agencies, while Democrats in Congress are refusing to stop wasteful spending.

Corruption and the high cost of living are becoming key topics ahead of the midterm elections.

More than 40% of respondents noted that rising prices are prompting them to vote for Democrats.

The Republican Party fears that Trump’s low approval rating and the consequences of high tariffs will hinder their ability to maintain control of Congress.

The Focaldata poll was conducted from October 16 to 18 among 1,648 registered voters, with a margin of error of 2.8%.

Ahead of the US Congressional elections, Donald Trump increased pressure on Ukraine, using threats as well as restrictions on the provision of intelligence and access to the Starlink system.

However, according to public opinion polls, this position does not provide the desired boost in ratings for the Republican Party.

A Republican defeat in the November elections could have significant consequences for the current administration.

A shift in control of Congress poses a threat to Donald Trump’s team in the form of initiating large-scale investigations and potential impeachment.
