US President Donald Trump said that the Russian-Ukrainian war is nearing its end, expressing hope that the United States will ultimately bring it to a close, according to Magno News.
According to Trump, he hopes the US is close to ending the catastrophe that has unfolded.
"We're close to ending, I hope, the Russia-Ukraine catastrophe. I hope we're ending that," he said at a campaign rally.
Resumption of peace talks
On October 20, Ukrainian and European representatives held talks in Norway with Trump's special envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner on ending the Russian-Ukrainian war.
The following day, Witkoff traveled to St. Petersburg for a meeting with Russian leader Vladimir Putin, bringing him documents outlining proposed frameworks for ending the war. Afterward, Putin's aide Yuri Ushakov said that the end of the war was approaching.
We also reported that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy had announced that a trilateral meeting between Ukraine, the US, and Russia was planned for the first half of November. The Kremlin also confirmed this information and specified that the talks would take place in Abu Dhabi.
At the same time, according to an RBC-Ukraine source, Kyiv considers an energy ceasefire unlikely to be achieved as a result of these meetings. However, the Ukrainian side views the resumption of talks and potential agreement on de-escalation measures as a success.
