US President Donald Trump said he plans to meet with Kremlin chief Vladimir Putin within the next two weeks, according to the Clash Report.

Specifically, journalists asked Trump if he had a schedule for his meeting with Putin. In response, he said:

“I would say within two weeks or so. Pretty quick. Marco Rubio is going to be meeting with his counterpart, as you know, Lavrov. And they'll be meeting pretty soon. They're going to set up a time and a place very shortly. Maybe it's already set up. They've already spoken,” the US president stated.

He also added that he considers his phone call with Putin to have been very good and productive. According to Trump, he will hold a meeting with the Kremlin leader, and they will make decisions regarding the situation of Russia’s war against Ukraine.

At the same time, the White House chief clarified who from the US side will participate in the negotiations with Russia.

“I'll be meeting him probably over the next two weeks. First, Marco is going to be meeting and the vice president, as you know, is very much involved. The whole team is involved. Steve Whit will be involved,” Trump said.

The US president also explained why he believes the second meeting with Putin will produce a different outcome than the Alaska summit, emphasizing that a third world war over Ukraine will not happen.

“Well, I think Alaska actually set a stage, and that wasn't very long ago, but it set a stage. You have to understand, I came into this situation; I didn't start this war. This is Biden's deal, and I came into it, and it was a mess. It could have led to World War III. That won’t happen,” the president concluded.

Trump–Putin meeting

On Thursday, October 16, Donald Trump held a phone call with Vladimir Putin. Following the conversation, both sides agreed that a high-level advisors’ meeting would take place next week.

In addition, Trump announced a new summit with Putin in Budapest to discuss the possibility of ending Russia’s disgraceful war against Ukraine.

He also said that on Friday, during his meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, he would discuss his recent conversation with Putin.

“President Zelenskyy and I will be meeting tomorrow, in the Oval Office, where we will discuss my conversation with President Putin, and much more. I believe great progress was made with today’s telephone conversation,” Trump wrote on social media.

Later that evening, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán said he had also spoken with Trump. He reported that preparations for the peace summit are underway.
