Trump didn't communicate with Putin after being elected
US President-elect Donald Trump says he has not spoken to Russian leader Vladimir Putin since winning the election. He did not want anything to interfere with negotiations over the war in Ukraine, he said in an interview with NBC News.
During the conversation, the journalist recalled that Trump had promised during the election campaign that he would call Putin and end Russia's war against Ukraine within the first 24 hours of his victory, even before the inauguration.
When asked several times by the host if he had spoken to the Russian leader, Trump said no.
“No, I haven't... I don't want to say that. I don't want to say anything about it because I don't want to do anything that could interfere with the negotiations,” the US president-elect replied.
