US President Donald Trump claims that Iran is almost begging to reach an agreement. At the same time, he says Washington is already establishing control over the Strait of Hormuz, according to his interview with C14 News Israel.
Host Libby Alon reported that she had spoken with the President by phone. During the discussion, she asked whether Iran truly wants to reach a deal or is stalling, to which Trump responded:
The host recounted that he said he believed they really wanted to negotiate and were essentially begging for it, and that anyone who had been defeated would want the same.
She then asked whether the US could take control of the Strait of Hormuz, and he replied that, yes, of course, it was already happening.
Additionally, the American leader said that he is in very close coordination with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
When asked if he had a message for the people of Israel, Trump said:
The US president concluded that he loved Israel and its people, and that he was very proud and pleased with their support. He added that a poll conducted that morning showed he had 99% support and that no one had ever experienced anything like this, so he was very proud.
Strait of Hormuz
After the US and Israeli strikes on Iran began, Tehran effectively blocked the passage of ships through the Strait of Hormuz, through which 20% of the world’s oil supply passes.
Against this backdrop, a few days ago, US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent announced that Washington plans to launch a program to insure ships in the strait. This involves military escort for oil tankers.
Meanwhile, media reports indicated that the Iranian parliament has drafted a bill to charge fees for securing vessels passing through the strait.
