US President Donald Trump is pushing his senior advisors to take more decisive actions regarding the tariff policy that will be announced on April 2, The Washington Post reports.

According to four sources, Trump continues to push for more aggressive measures to reshape the US economy. This is happening despite calls from his allies to take a more conciliatory approach.

Currently, the President's advisors are holding intense discussions on the specific targets of the import tariffs that will be implemented. These tariffs will affect trade worth trillions of dollars.

The Washington Post writes that the most likely scenario involves imposing tariffs on goods from 15% of countries that the Trump administration considers "the worst US trading partners, which account for almost 90 percent of imports."

Earlier, the US President announced that "reciprocal" trade tariffs would be introduced on April 2. In particular, Trump's administration stated that the tariffs would be in response to the tariff rates imposed by Washington's trade partners on American exports.

Furthermore, in both public and private statements, Trump has said that tariffs are a win-win option that will bring manufacturing jobs back to the US and fill the federal treasury with trillions of dollars.

Yesterday, Bloomberg reported that the trade war initiated by Trump could lead to a shortage of toilet paper in the US. The issue arises because a significant portion of the material is made from Canadian raw materials, which could be hit by tariffs.
