US President Donald Trump criticized the German Chancellor for interfering in Iran-related issues, urging him to focus on ending the war in Ukraine in his post on Truth Social.

The US President said that German leader Friedrich Merz should direct his efforts toward ending Russia’s war against Ukraine, where his actions so far have been ineffective.

He also called on the German Chancellor to address domestic issues, particularly in the economy and energy sectors.

Trump stressed that Germany should spend less time intervening in matters related to Iran’s nuclear threat.

According to him, US actions in this area are making the world safer.

"The Chancellor of Germany should spend more time on ending the war with Russia/Ukraine (where he has been totally ineffective!), and fixing his broken country, especially immigration and energy, and less time on interfering with those that are getting rid of the Iran nuclear threat," Trump wrote.

Diplomatic rift

Recently, tensions have been rising between Washington and Berlin, driven by disagreements over the war with Iran and support for Ukraine.

German Chancellor Friedrich Merz previously said that the United States is being "humiliated" in its negotiations with Iran, criticizing Washington for lacking a clear strategy.

At the same time, German officials view the situation around Ukraine with a degree of pessimism, pointing out that European partners currently lack clear ideas about the next steps and that Europe must act on its own.
