Trump believes China can execute fentanyl traffickers

US President Donald Trump says he believes China will start imposing the death penalty, specifically for the production and distribution of fentanyl, according to The Guardian.
“I think we’re going to work it out so that China is going to end up going from that to giving the death penalty to the people that create this fentanyl and send it into our country. I believe that’s going to happen soon,” Trump stated.
His remarks came during an event marking the signing of legislation aimed at stopping the flow of fentanyl, attended by families of people who died from overdoses.
Trump also added that he imposed tariffs on China because of fentanyl.
Trump’s fight against fentanyl
On July 16, President Donald Trump signed a law aimed at restricting the illegal importation of fentanyl into the US. This legislation increases prison sentences for those who traffic in this narcotic substance.
