US President Donald Trump announced a military operation in Cuba, calling it a "new dawn" for the Cuban people after 70 years of waiting, according to a speech by the American president at a Turning Point USA event.

What Trump said

The American president called himself a peacemaker who has settled eight wars and added that sometimes you have to intervene. He then turned to Cuba:

"And very soon, this great strength will also bring about a day 70 years in the making. It’s called a New Dawn for Cuba. We’re going to help them out with Cuba. We have a lot of great Cuban Americans. Not too many people in this audience, I don’t think, but you go to Miami, we have Cuban Americans, people who were brutally treated, whose families were killed and brutalized. And now watch what happens," he said.

Trump also noted that the operation would bring long-awaited freedom to the Cuban people.

Intelligence activity

The day before, an intensive intelligence presence by the US Navy was recorded off the coast of Cuba, using the MQ-4C Triton drone. This aircraft is designed for maritime reconnaissance and surveillance at high altitudes.

The day before, US President Donald Trump announced the supposedly full and indefinite opening of the Strait of Hormuz, adding that this decision was positively received in China.

At the same time, he sparked a wave of criticism after a post on Truth Social depicted him in an image reminiscent of Jesus Christ – the post was later deleted.

Against this backdrop, Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva sharply criticized Donald Trump's approach to international politics, noting the inconsistency of his arguments and the danger of using force as a means of pressure.
