Trump announces 2026 G20 summit location, sparks questions on Russia’s invitation

US President Donald Trump announced that the 2026 G20 summit will take place in Miami, Florida, according to a live broadcast from the White House.
Trump stated that the Group of Twenty (G20) summit in 2026 will be held in the US for the first time in 20 years, with Miami serving as the host city.
The US president noted that he is considering inviting Russia to the G20 summit.
2025 G20 summit
The 2025 G20 summit is scheduled to take place in Johannesburg in November. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has declined to attend due to South Africa's policies, which will chair the organization in 2025.
“South Africa is doing very bad things. Expropriating private property. Using G20 to promote “solidarity, equality, & sustainability.’ In other words: DEI and climate change,” Rubio stated.
