Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with US Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump and announced a shared point of view, The Guardian reports.

During the meeting, Zelenskyy said that he and former President Donald Trump have a "common view that the war in Ukraine has to be stopped."

Zelenskyy also noted that it was important for him to meet with both US presidential candidates.

Background

Since September 22, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has been on a visit to the US, where he held numerous meetings with international leaders, congressmen, and public figures. He participated in the Summit of the Future, sessions of the UN Security Council, and the General Assembly, and also met with U.S. President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris, presenting Ukraine’s peace plan.

During Zelenskyy's visit, Biden announced new military aid for Kyiv, amounting to nearly $8 billion.

Additionally, Zelenskyy held a meeting with US Vice President and presidential candidate Kamala Harris and presented her with Ukraine's victory plan in its war with the Russian Federation.
