In the circles surrounding US President Joe Biden and Donald Trump, who won the election, some people do not understand Vladimir Putin's dictatorship. They hope that an alliance with Moscow against China is still possible, according to Andrii Veselovskyi, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, and advisor to the Director of the National Institute for Strategic Studies, in a comment on the RBC-Ukraine.

He emphasized that the US has many excuses in case Ukraine loses the war with Russia. And if a country like the US uses propaganda, "anything can be invented."

"In the US, particularly in Trump and Biden’s circles — and this was Biden’s main mistake — there are quite a few people who still dream of forming this strange combination, somehow persuading Russia to 'swallow' half of Ukraine. And in return, Russia would stop aligning with China and become a sort of ally to America in its struggle against Beijing," Veselovskyi said.

According to him, people in Trump and Biden's circles do not understand that you cannot negotiate with Hitler (the leader of Nazi Germany—ed.).

"The same applies here. And this school, if it can be called that, of political thought unfortunately has not disappeared and still exists. We’ll see if it has any chance of success," the diplomat added.

Rumors about Trump and Ukraine

Today, November 7, WSJ reported, citing sources, that Trump’s advisers have suggested several ideas for resolving the war in Ukraine.

Journalists report that all of these ideas involve either freezing the war or abandoning Ukraine’s NATO membership.
