Trump again promises to 'get war settled' in Ukraine, but there is nuance

Donald Trump again emphasized the importance of ending the war in Ukraine and promised to do so if he wins the upcoming presidential elections, according to Bloomberg.
"We’ve got to get that war settled and I’ll get it settled," Trump said during a pre-election rally in South Carolina.
In particular, he called Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy the "greatest salesman in history" and insinuated that the United States could supposedly lose "hundreds of billions of dollars" if Kyiv strikes a deal with Russia and "all of a sudden they don’t want to deal with us anymore."
During the pre-election rally, Trump briefly mentioned Ukraine as he continued his campaign against his main Republican rival, Nikki Haley.
During the rally, the Republican also stated that during his presidency, he threatened NATO countries to encourage Russia to do "whatever the hell they want" with them if they did not fulfill their financial obligations to the Alliance.
US Presidential elections
The presidential elections in the United States are scheduled for November 5, 2024. According to forecasts, the main candidate from the Democrats will be the incumbent American leader, Joe Biden. Among the Republicans, apart from Donald Trump, the former US Ambassador to the UN, Nikki Haley, is favored.
Previously, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that if former US President Donald Trump wins the upcoming elections, there will be a different policy towards Ukraine. At the same time, the president is convinced of further support from the United States in case of Trump's victory.
