US President Donald Trump was accused of violating the dress code at the funeral of Pope Francis. He wore a blue suit to the service at the Vatican instead of a black one, reports the Independent.

The dress code for the funeral at St. Peter's Square in the Vatican required men to wear a dark suit with a black tie and a black button on the left lapel. Women were asked to wear long black dresses, gloves, and veils.

The wife of the US President, Melania Trump, wore a black dress and a black veil. However, Donald Trump faced criticism from commentators observing the ceremony because he ignored the official request and instead wore a dark blue suit and a matching blue tie.

"Trump did not even have the decency to wear a black tie, and he wore a blue suit. No respect!!," one critic wrote on social media.

Another suggested this showed a lack of "class," while many others called the color disrespectful.

In addition to violating the dress code, Trump and his wife left the ceremony immediately after the service, without staying for the burial of the Pope.

For his part, Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskyy was dressed not in a formal suit but in black military attire, which he has worn consistently since the Russian invasion began in February 2022.

As a reminder, we also reported that the Vatican breached protocol by giving Volodymyr Zelenskyy a seat in the first row at Pope Francis' funeral. Initially, he was supposed to be seated in the third row.
