A dangerous tornado swept through the Polish village of Cudnochy. Witnesses captured it on video, and the footage is rapidly spreading online, according to RMF24.

Details of severe weather in northern Poland

The media said the dangerous weather phenomenon was recorded on Friday in the village of Cudnochy in the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship.

The published footage clearly shows a distinct condensation funnel and strongly rotating air masses moving through the settlement.

The vortex formation was officially confirmed by Poland's Institute for Meteorology and Water Management (IMGW).

According to meteorologist Pietrek Szuster, the event has already been classified as a tornado in the European Severe Weather Database (ESWD).

Meteorological radar had already indicated conditions favorable for severe storms earlier in the day, but the scale and intensity of the phenomenon came as a surprise to local residents.

Threat of new tornadoes

Meteorologists warn that, due to an influx of hot, humid air, the risk of new severe storms and localized tornadoes in Poland may increase in the near future.

Notably, extreme weather is increasingly causing widespread damage across Europe. In late May, a powerful tornado in Poland destroyed dozens of homes as gale-force winds reaching 180–250 km/h tore off roofs and brought down trees.

In addition, strong wind gusts are regularly recorded in Ukraine, causing significant damage to infrastructure. In April, a widespread tree fall, with branches downed onto power lines, caused serious disruptions in several regions, blocking roads, damaging vehicles, and affecting private homes.
