To secure Europe from Russia militarily in the long term, there is only one solution, stated Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy during the conference "Society and Defense" in Sweden.

"To secure Europe from Russia militarily in the long term, there is only one solution - a joint European weapons production," he said.

He noted that, in addition to a full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Russia is currently waging a hybrid war against a large part of Europe.

"Its [Russia's - ed.] aggression can be defeated. But solidarity is needed to teach the aggressor that aggression brings no benefits," the president emphasized.

Zelenskyy also thanked Sweden and its people for their solidarity with Ukraine. In particular, for the military assistance, especially for the CV90 tank and the Archer artillery system, which saved the lives of Ukrainians.

"Ukraine is already and will always be one of the most significant European donors of security. We strive for the best weapons and technologies in the world for our own security and the security of our partners," he said.

The President emphasized that joint production with Sweden was a priority for Ukraine.

"And I am confident that the day will come when we will be able to see the opening in Ukraine of the first joint production with you," he added.

Swedish aid for Ukraine

On December 11, the Swedish government announced a new aid package to Ukraine in the amount of SEK 1.4 billion ($133.5 million). These funds will be used to support Ukrainians in the winter.

Prior to this, Ukraine and Sweden discussed joint work in the field of innovation and experience gained during the war, as well as military assistance and defense issues in general.
