The US Senate should vote on the bill on sanctions against Russia, and thus, together with Europe, strike at the Russian economy, says Lithuanian Foreign Minister Kęstutis Budrys.

"The EU paved the way. Now it’s time for perfect storm – the U.S. Senate to vote on that Russia sanctions bill imposing crushing burdens on Russian economy and those fueling Russia's war of aggression," the Lithuanian Foreign Minister said.

He also added that thanks to the agreed sanctions from the EU countries against more than 100 shadow fleet vessels, 22 Russian banks, as well as Nord Stream, and the reduction of the oil price ceiling, one can be sure that Russia will remain on the right track to exhausting the blood money.

New package of EU sanctions against Russia

Today, on July 18, EU member states agreed on the 18th package of sanctions against Russia, the main restriction of which was a new lower limit on Russian oil.

The limit will be set at $15 per barrel below market prices and will be automatically reviewed at least twice a year, depending on market prices.

The package also includes restrictions on Russian oil refined in third countries. A large refinery in India, partially owned by the Russian state oil company Rosneft, has also been blacklisted.
