The island is just a 30-minute ferry ride from bustling Mykonos, but the contrast between the two is striking. Today, even people who have owned property on Mykonos for years are selling up and moving to Tinos in search of a more relaxed pace of life.
What makes Tinos so special: From architecture to gastronomy
Tinos remains relatively undiscovered by mass tourism. It is a true find for those seeking an authentic Greek experience.

Authenticity and art. Here you will find elegant architecture with Venetian influences, traditional dovecotes, granite hills and charming villages. The island is also famous for its marble-carving art.
A gastronomic paradise. Tinos has quietly become one of the most interesting culinary destinations in the Aegean. Octopus tentacles hang out to dry near local tavernas, while chefs create true masterpieces using fresh local ingredients.
A spiritual center. The island is an important pilgrimage destination and is home to the magnificent Orthodox Church of Panagia Evangelistria.
How much does accommodation cost in Tinos?
Unlike neighboring Mykonos or the heavily promoted Santorini, Tinos offers fairly reasonable accommodation prices, regardless of your budget.

How to get there from Ukraine: The best routes
Since Ukrainian airspace remains closed, you will need to plan your trip with a connection in a neighboring European country. The most convenient option is to combine ground transportation with low-cost airlines.
Option 1: Via Poland to Athens
Take a train or bus to Warsaw or Krakow. From there, Wizz Air or Ryanair operate daily direct and affordable flights to Athens.
Ferries to Tinos depart daily from the Athens-area ports of Piraeus and Rafina. A high-speed ferry will get you there in about two hours, while a regular ferry takes approximately 4.5 hours. It is a great opportunity to combine your vacation with a scenic sea trip.
Option 2: Via Romania to Mykonos (the fastest by sea)
Travel by bus or car to Bucharest, or use a transfer from Odesa or Chernivtsi. From Bucharest Airport, you can catch a direct Wizz Air low-cost flight to Mykonos.
Upon arrival, you will only need to get to the local port and board a ferry. Thanks to the islands' proximity, the sea journey from Mykonos to Tinos takes just 30 minutes.
