US President Donald Trump has announced that the war in Gaza is over, insisting that Hamas will comply with the agreement, reports The Times of Israel.

Responding to journalists in the Knesset building (Israel's unicameral parliament), US President Donald Trump answered “yes” to the question of whether the war in Gaza was over.

“This is a great day. This is a whole new beginning, and I think there’s never been an event like it,” Trump said.

When asked what would happen to Hamas if the group did not comply with the truce, he replied, “They’ll comply.”

Trump's visit to Israel and the release of hostages

Today, Monday, October 13, the US president arrived in Israel. After speaking in parliament, he will travel to Egypt for a summit of world leaders.

On his way to the Middle East, Trump announced the "end of the war in Gaza."

Today, Hamas released 13 Israeli hostages in exchange for Palestinian prisoners. The hostages, who had been held in the Gaza Strip for more than two years, have already been handed over to Red Cross representatives.

Before the exchange, Hamas released a list of 20 hostages' names, which matches Israeli data.

An international summit will be held today in Egypt, where world leaders will discuss ways to achieve peace in the Middle East and end the conflict in the Gaza Strip.
