There will be good news regarding additional air defense systems for Ukraine at NATO summit - Reuters
Ukraine may hear positive news about the transfer of air defense systems during the NATO summit in Washington, scheduled for July 9-11, Reuters reports.
An unnamed senior official from the US State Department told Reuters that their country plans to make several new announcements regarding air defense systems during the NATO summit.
"You've heard that the Ukrainians are keen to secure additional Patriots or similar systems. And I think we'll have some additional good news for them on that front," he added.
The source did not disclose further details to Reuters.
What preceded
Earlier, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken had indicated that news regarding the transfer of air defense systems to Ukraine could come before the NATO summit in Washington. He emphasized that a robust air defense is a key component of Ukraine's success.
There were also earlier rumors in the media about the possible transfer of Israeli Patriot systems to Ukraine. These systems could potentially be routed through the US and later supplied to Ukrainian defenders. For more details on this, refer to the RBC-Ukraine material.
