The Netherlands has more than €6 billion in military aid for Ukraine. There will be no reduction in support, says Dutch Defense Minister Ruben Brekelmans.

“I see that there are reports that aid to Ukraine will be reduced by 1 billion euros. This is not true. Not a single euro will go to Ukraine. A total of €10.4 billion has been allocated for military support. Almost 4 billion euros have already been spent, and more than 6 billion euros remain,” Brekelmans writes.

He notes that he wants the aid to Ukraine to be delivered as soon as possible. That is why some contracts are being signed, for example, in 2024, not 2025.

“Ukraine is fighting hard and cannot wait. As the Netherlands, we continue to support Ukraine. We are one of the countries that provide a relatively high level of support,” the Minister emphasizes.

Brekelmans adds that money is also available for other forms of support, such as energy infrastructure.

Assistance to Ukraine from the Netherlands

Since the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the Netherlands has been actively supporting Ukraine.

Recently, Ukraine received the first F-16 fighter jets from the Netherlands. The country also announced a drone initiative.

At the end of June, the Netherlands announced plans to provide Ukraine with a Patriot air defense system in cooperation with another country. Amsterdam was ready to provide the main part of the system, but other components had to be supplied by a partner.
