Texas McDonald’s shooting leaves man dead while picking up Happy Meals

A tragic shooting at a McDonald’s in Katy, Texas, claimed the life of a 61-year-old grandfather who was innocently picking up Happy Meals for his grandchildren, reports USA Today.
Jorge Arbaiza had just entered the fast-food restaurant on Sunday evening when an altercation between two groups escalated into gunfire.
According to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, at least two people pulled out guns, firing multiple rounds inside the crowded McDonald’s.
Arbaiza, an innocent bystander, was shot multiple times. His wife, Teresa, was waiting outside in the car with their two grandchildren when she noticed panicked customers fleeing the building. When she called her husband, he answered with devastating last words: "I’m dying. I’m going to die."
Authorities reported that another victim, a 26-year-old man, was also shot but survived. Arbaiza was airlifted to a nearby hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. Investigators are analyzing security footage to track down those involved in the fight that led to the fatal shooting.
Other public shooting incidents this year
The McDonald’s shooting is not an isolated case. Earlier this year, at least ten people were injured in a shooting outside the Amazura nightclub in New York.
Weeks later, a school shooting in Örebro, Sweden, left approximately ten dead, including the attacker.
