International talks on ending the war in Ukraine have reached a stage where key parameters of a future peace settlement are being discussed, parameters that will shape regional security and the future format of relations in Europe, according to a publication by TRT Haber.

The international dialogue on ending Russia’s war against Ukraine has reached a critical stage, where the foundations of a long-term peace are taking shape. This was stated following a meeting of the Coalition of the Willing in Paris.

Despite the continuation of full-scale hostilities for a fourth consecutive year, the parties are increasingly moving toward discussions of specific conditions without which a durable peace cannot be achieved.

According to Hakan Fidan, the negotiation process is now focused precisely on core issues.

"We see that the talks are concentrated on exactly those areas without which it is impossible to speak of a stable and lasting peace," he said.

Türkiye's role and significance of future agreement

Türkiye, the statement notes, continues to take an active part in diplomatic efforts and is contributing to advancing the peace process.

Fidan emphasized that any potential agreement would not be limited to a ceasefire in Ukraine alone. Instead, it could shape the architecture of relations between Russia and Europe for years ahead, while also setting the framework for Moscow’s regional policy.

Ceasefire oversight and security

Particular attention during the Paris talks was paid to mechanisms for monitoring compliance with a ceasefire, deterrence measures, and possible military responses in the event of violations.

Fidan expressed hope that an agreement could be signed as soon as possible to halt human losses and ensure stability.

"After a peace agreement is signed, Ukraine will be able to focus on economic renewal and addressing domestic challenges. Türkiye is ready to play an important role in the process of economic recovery and development," he added.

Talks involving Ukraine, the United States, and countries of the Coalition of the Willing took place in Paris on January 6. The parties reaffirmed a united approach to sustainable peace and security and agreed on further measures to support Ukraine.

Germany has also signaled readiness to contribute to a potential ceasefire framework in Ukraine, while stopping short of committing to troop deployments, unlike the approaches outlined by the United Kingdom and France within the coalition framework.
