Türkiye has proposed creating a joint law enforcement structure called TÜRKPOL within the Organization of Turkic States. It is planned to be modeled after international organizations such as Interpol and to enhance cooperation between the law enforcement agencies of member countries, according to TRT Haber.

The proposal was announced by Turkish Minister of Interior Ali Yerlikaya during a meeting of the Council of Interior Ministers of the Organization of Turkic States.

According to him, TÜRKPOL should promote the development of cooperation between law enforcement structures of Turkic states. Among the areas of such interaction are information exchange and coordination of joint efforts.

The Turkish side proposes creating the structure following the example of international law enforcement mechanisms, including Interpol.

The initiative is part of a broader course to deepen cooperation between the member states of the Organization of Turkic States in the field of security and law enforcement.
