Switzerland invites Pope to Ukrainian peace summit
Swiss President Viola Amherd has invited Pope Francis to a summit on the Ukrainian peace formula to be held in June in Burgenstock, Switzerland.
On Saturday, May 4, Amgerd met with the pontiff and spoke with him, among other things, about Russia's war against Ukraine and other problem areas in the world.
"We invited the Holy See. The Vatican is very positive about the peace conference," the Swiss president said in an interview with Blick, commenting on her meeting with the Pope.
Peace summit in Switzerland
In early May, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy officially announced the holding of the Peace Summit in Switzerland. The Peace Summit will be held on June 15-16 in Burgenstock, Switzerland. Representatives of all continents have been invited to attend, but not Russia.
Thus, Russia will not attend the inaugural summit in Switzerland, but its participation is not excluded in the future if Moscow agrees to the peace plan developed within the framework of the peace summit.
According to Zelenskyy, the world leaders plan to discuss three issues at the inaugural peace summit.
