The Swedish government has presented its 19th aid package to Ukraine. It is the largest since the beginning of the full-scale war, the Swedish public service television company Sveriges Television reports.

The total value of the aid package is 16 billion Swedish kronor ($1.6 billion), including:

  • $0.92 billion will be spent on armaments, likely including ammunition and air defense systems.
  • $0.5 billion will go to several funds and coalitions that will purchase equipment for Ukraine.

In addition, $50 million will be directed to supplying the Ukrainian Armed Forces with equipment: machine guns, small-caliber ammunition, training weapons, and medical vehicles.

"Russia holds the initiative in the war, and we must support Ukraine to break this trend," said Sweden's Minister of Defense, Paul Jonsson.

Sweden's support for Ukraine

Sweden has been actively supporting Ukraine during the war, providing military, financial, and humanitarian assistance. The country supplies weapons, equipment, and machinery to strengthen Ukraine's defense capabilities. Sweden also participates in training Ukrainian military personnel and supports Ukraine's defense industry.

In addition to military aid, Sweden funds the restoration of destroyed infrastructure, demining, and the provision of medical assistance.

Recently, the Swedish government authorized an additional $7.57 million for demining and drones for Ukraine.
