Sweden will direct financial aid to support the empowerment of women in Ukraine. The funding amounts to over $2 million, reports the Swedish Embassy in Ukraine.

"On March 8, we pay tribute to Ukrainian women who bravely defend their country and all of Europe as military personnel, humanitarian workers, entrepreneurs, and political leaders," the embassy emphasized.

According to the embassy, Sweden is launching a new support initiative worth 22.5 million Swedish kronor (approximately $2.22 million) to promote the empowerment of women in Ukraine.

Notably, International Women's Day, celebrated on March 8, is a holiday dedicated to women's struggle for equal rights, gender equality, and recognition of their contributions to society. It originated from women's movements in the early 20th century.
