Visit of the Prime Minister of India to Russia
Russia has been one of India's closest strategic partners and its largest arms supplier for decades. However, the US is seeking to forge closer ties with New Delhi to counterbalance China's influence in the region.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Russia on July 8 and 9 on an official visit.
During his meeting with Russian dictator Vladimir Putin, Modi called for an end to the war in Ukraine through negotiations, emphasizing that there is no solution on the battlefield. Modi also stated that the death of innocent children caused pain, the day after a deadly strike on the Okhmatdyt children's hospital in Kyiv.
The US State Department expressed concerns to New Delhi regarding India's relations with Moscow.
