At the end of May, the Ukrainian military struck at the Kerch ferry, sinking one of the Russian ferries there. This strike was important, states Dmytro Pletenchuk, Ukrainian Navy spokesperson.

According to Pletenchuk, the ferry crossing was the main way for Russians to logistically get to Crimea, as the railroad in the occupied Ukrainian southern regions is still under construction.

“The ferry was fulfilling this function. They will now try to restore this connection because the ferry is now the main logistical tool to meet the logistical needs of the occupiers in Crimea and the south. Therefore, it is of great importance - otherwise, the Russians would not have tried to restore it,” he explained.

On the night of May 30, the ferry crossing in Kerch was struck by ATACMS missiles. As a result, two ferries were damaged. The damage to the ferries was confirmed by photographs. One of the ferries ran aground, blocking the ferry service.

Afterward, the Ukrainian General Staff stated that as a result of the successful work of the Ukrainian military, the logistics of the Russian military in Crimea were significantly undermined.
