On November 4, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a meeting of the Staff of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief. They discussed the strengthening of air defense, as well as new solutions to combat Russian guided aerial bombs.

The meeting included a report by Acting Commander of the Air Force Anatolii Kryvonozhko on the fight against Russian air terror.

In particular, the following was discussed:

  • strengthening air defense in the regions that need it most;
  • development of new solutions in the fight against Russian drones;
  • strengthening mobile fire groups.

“Russia is now using about 10 times more Shaheds than last fall, so we must fully counter them,” Zelenskyy writes.

There was also a report on domestic production and contracting results for the current year and planning for the next year:

  • shells
  • weapons
  • equipment
  • electronic warfare equipment;
  • drones.

“We have considered 3-5-year contracts that we offer to Ukrainian producers of strategic drones. We need a long planning horizon, development, and investment for manufacturers,” the President adds.

The meeting also included a report by the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi, on long-range drones, prioritization, and planning of operations.

Shelling of Ukraine

Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Russian shelling of Ukrainian cities and villages has become a constant threat to civilians. Russians use a wide arsenal of weapons: missiles, anti-aircraft guns, and kamikaze drones, which destroy residential and infrastructure facilities.

Recently, the frequency of attacks with the use of kamikaze drones has increased significantly, as they are launched on Ukrainian territory almost every night, which increases the risks to civilians as well.

Meanwhile, aviation expert Kostiantyn Kryvolap asked whether Russia is capable of depleting Ukraine's air defense system with massive drone launches.
