Where to watch the Squid Game: Season 2
The second season is now available on the streaming service Netflix. There are seven episodes in the season. In the first season of Squid Game, there were nine episodes.
It is also noted that filming for the third season of Squid Game began in the summer of 2024, and viewers will be able to watch it in 2025.
What the second season is about
The plot centers around the main character of the first season, the loser and former gambler, Seong Gi-hun.
Three years after winning "Squid Game," Player 456 rejects the idea of moving to the US and returns with a new goal - he decides to fight against the system and enters into conflict with the organizers of the games. Gi-hun re-joins the mysterious survival game with new participants, who are trying to win 45.6 billion won.
The second season will also feature characters from the first season: Lee Jung-jae (the game’s frontman), Wi Ha-joon (the young police officer searching for his brother), and Gong Yoo (the recruiter of new players).
The second season will introduce many young players, such as a pregnant girl, a man who meets his own mother, and a crypto-influencer. In this way, the creators address an important issue - young people, more often than adults, fall into debt, which later traps them.
Viewers will also learn about new rules of the game: participants will have the right to vote to end the competition after each challenge and leave with the amount they have accumulated if the majority votes in favor.
Additionally, the director included new games familiar not only in Korea but also worldwide. For instance, viewers can spot "tic-tac-toe" in the trailer footage.
