This flower, crocus, listed in Ukraine's Red Book, made its appearance in the region several decades ago, initially found in isolated patches.
Naturalists assert that the saffron heralds the arrival of spring. Its blossoming lasts for up to two weeks, affording all enthusiasts ample time to marvel at this spectacle in the Carpathians.
It's strictly forbidden to pluck these unique flowers. Unusual albino saffrons can also be occasionally encountered.
The Helios saffron boasts the largest flowers among its spring-blooming genus, thus standing out for its high ornamental value. This species is often cultivated by both professional horticulturists and enthusiasts.
It proves quite resilient and undemanding, thriving in semi-shaded areas with moderately moist soil, and it proliferates well through self-seeding.
